1. About this notice

This Cookie Notice explains how Linkcups uses cookies and similar technologies (such as localStorage, sessionStorage and IndexedDB) on linkcups.com and the hotel guest pages it hosts, what each category is for, and how you can accept, refuse or change your choice. It is part of our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it. It is written to meet Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (PDPA) and the EU / UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with the ePrivacy rules.

2. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies, such as localStorage, keep small pieces of information in your browser in the same way. They let a site remember things between pages or visits, for example that you are signed in.

  • First-party cookies are set by the site you are visiting (here, Linkcups). Third-party cookies are set by another company’s service used on the page.
  • Session cookies are deleted when you close the browser or tab; persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.

3. How we use cookies

We group cookies into three categories. Only the first is used without asking you.

CategoryWhat it is forYour choice
Strictly necessarySigning you in, keeping your session and the site secure, capturing errors so the site keeps working, and remembering your cookie choice.Always on. The site cannot work without them, so the law does not require consent for them.
AnalyticsUnderstanding how the site is used (pages visited, load times, where visitors come from) so we can improve it.Off until you turn it on.
MarketingMeasuring our own advertising campaigns and showing Linkcups ads that are more relevant to you on other sites.Off until you turn it on.

Today linkcups.com runs no analytics or marketing tools at all. The two optional categories exist so that, if we add such a tool, it can only ever load after you have allowed that category. Any tool we add will be listed in section 4 before it is used, and you will be asked again.

5. Hotel guest pages and hotel websites

Guest links and guest pages (/p/…) are run for the hotel that created them. They do not show the linkcups.com banner; instead, a privacy choice is asked for that hotel only:

  • Visitors in the EU / EEA, the UK, Switzerland or an unknown country see a banner with equal “Accept” and “Decline” buttons. No analytics or advertising tool the hotel has set up (for example Google Analytics or the Meta pixel) loads until you press Accept. The answer is kept for 6 months for that hotel only (lc-guest-consent:<hotel>).
  • Other visitors see a short notice that can be dismissed (lc-guest-notice:<hotel>, 6 months).
  • Linkcups itself sets no cookies and no identifiers on guest pages.

The hotel is responsible for the tools it chooses to connect. For a hotel’s own website, its own cookie notice applies.

6. Third-party services

  • Google sign-in. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google’s sign-in window may use Google’s own cookies on Google’s domains, under Google’s cookie policy.
  • Fonts. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser sends a normal web request (including your IP address) to Google to fetch them; no cookies are set for this.
  • Embedded video and maps on guest pages (YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, Vimeo, Google Maps) load only after you tap them; the provider’s own cookie rules apply from then on.

7. Your choices

  • On your first visit a banner lets you “Accept all”, “Reject non-essential” or open “Cookie settings” to choose each category. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and nothing optional is switched on in advance.
  • Change or withdraw your choice at any time from “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent; if an optional tool is already running, the page reloads so it stops.
  • Browser settings also let you block or delete cookies and site data. Blocking strictly necessary storage will stop sign-in from working.
  • Your choice is kept per browser and device. If you clear your browser’s site data or use another device, you will be asked again.

8. How we record your choice

To be able to show that consent was given (PDPA section 19, GDPR Article 7(1)), each time you make or change a choice we keep a record of:

  • a random visitor id created in your browser (not linked to your account, name or email);
  • your choice for each category and whether you used “Accept all”, “Reject non-essential” or your own settings;
  • the version of this notice, the date and time, the page you were on (without any query string);
  • the country derived from your IP address, and the browser family and device type (for example “Safari 18 / mobile”).

Your IP address is used only to look up the country and is never stored. The record is kept for 3 years and then deleted. Only authorised Linkcups administrators can see it. You can ask us about it using the contact details below; quote the visitor id shown in your browser’s lc-cookie-consent entry if you can.

9. Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when we change the cookies we use. When the change is material (for example a new analytics or marketing tool), the version at the top changes and you will be asked for your choice again.
